Brewing Success: The Benefits of Cold Brew on Tap for Restaurants, Bars, and Breweries - Tapestry Coffee

Cold brew on tap is one of the easiest upgrades a business can make. No barista, no brewing, no mess. You pull a handle and pour a smooth, consistent cold brew every time.

We roast and brew cold brew in Lakeville and deliver kegs to offices, restaurants, bars, breweries and coffee shops around the Twin Cities. Here's everything you need to know about adding it to your business.

Why cold brew on tap?

It's consistent

Every pour tastes the same. No watered-down iced coffee, no pot that's been sitting on a burner for three hours. Cold brew holds its flavor from the first glass to the last.

It saves time

Making cold brew from scratch takes 12 to 24 hours of steeping, plus filtering and cleanup. With kegs, that's all done for you. Your team just pours.

People love it

Cold brew is smooth, naturally sweet and less bitter than hot coffee. It works for coffee lovers, people who only drink iced coffee and anyone looking for a non-alcoholic option.

It's flexible

Serve it straight over ice, with milk, as nitro, or as the base for lattes, mocktails and coffee cocktails. Add vanilla, cinnamon or a seasonal syrup and you've got a new menu item without new equipment.

Less waste

Kegs are reusable, so there are no bottles, cans or single-use cartons to throw away. Pair it with real glasses or mugs and you cut waste even more.

Cold brew on tap for offices

Cold brew is the office coffee upgrade people actually notice. Instead of a stale drip pot or a pile of pods, your team gets fresh, smooth cold brew whenever they want it.

  • Zero hassle. Once the kegerator is set up, there's nothing to brew, clean or manage. Swap the keg when it's empty.
  • Fewer coffee runs. Great coffee in the office means less time out of the office.
  • A real perk. A tap in the kitchen gives people a reason to gather, chat and take a real break. It shows your team you care.
  • Works year-round. Cold brew isn't just a summer thing in offices. Teams drink it every month of the year.

Want hot coffee too? Our office coffee program covers fresh-roasted beans and cold brew kegs in one place.

Cold brew on tap for restaurants, bars and breweries

For restaurants, bars and taprooms, cold brew is one of the highest-margin drinks you can add, with almost no labor.

  • Great margins. Cold brew sells at a premium compared to regular coffee, and there's no skilled barista or espresso machine required.
  • Fits your bar. If you already pour beer, you know how kegs work. Cold brew slides right into your existing setup.
  • Coffee cocktails and mocktails. Espresso martinis, cold brew tonics, coffee stouts and brunch drinks all start with good cold brew.
  • Something for everyone. Non-drinkers and designated drivers get a drink they're excited about, which keeps the whole group around longer.
  • Faster service. No brewing to order. Pour it and go.

What you need to serve cold brew on tap

  • A kegerator or tap system. Kegerators are easy to find and don't cost much. If you already pour beer, you may be able to use what you have.
  • The right coupler and gas. Regular cold brew pours with standard gas. Nitro cold brew needs nitrogen or a nitro infuser for that creamy, cascading pour.
  • Kegs of cold brew. We supply 5-gallon kegs that connect to your tap system.

Not sure what you need? We'll help you figure out the right setup for your space and volume.

How much cold brew do you need?

A 5-gallon keg holds 640 ounces. With ice in the glass, that's roughly 50 to 80 drinks depending on your cup size. A good rule of thumb:

  • Offices: one keg a week covers about 10 to 15 people who grab a cold brew every workday. Start there and adjust once you see how fast it goes.
  • Restaurants and bars: start with one keg and track how long it lasts. We'll help you set a delivery schedule that keeps you from running out.

Regular vs. nitro cold brew

Regular cold brew is smooth and bold, great over ice or with milk. Nitro cold brew is infused with nitrogen, which gives it a creamy texture and a cascading pour that looks like a stout. Nitro is a showstopper behind a bar, and people love watching it settle. Both come from the same cold brew. The difference is how it's poured.

Common questions

How long does a keg of cold brew stay fresh?

Because the keg stays sealed and pressurized, cold brew lasts much longer than a pitcher in the fridge. Keep it cold and it'll taste great until the keg is empty.

Is cold brew stronger than regular coffee?

Cold brew tastes smoother, but it's usually a bit stronger than a regular cup of drip coffee. It's easy to serve over ice or cut with milk.

Is cold brew easier on your stomach?

A lot of people find cold brew smoother and less bitter than hot coffee, which is why many folks who don't love hot coffee still enjoy it.

Can I try it before committing?

Absolutely. We always start with a free sample.
