The perfect workhorse coffee for drip, espresso, or cold brew.

Overview

Abstract is our take on a modern coffee that works great as a mug of coffee and shines as an espresso blend. Abstract is the coffee that we pull on espresso at the coffee shop, so we designed the blend with espresso in mind.

As a cornerstone in our collection, Abstract stands proudly as one of our foundational coffee blend.

Recommended Brewing Methods

Abstract is our most popular coffee and our go-to for lots of brewing methods. Our flagship blend does double duty for both brewed coffee and espresso applications. Pronounced fruit, sweetness, and bit of chocolate notes from two separate origins make for a coffee that's incredibly intricate, yet roasted to be beautifully balanced.

We recommend Abstract for espresso, cold brew, pour over, or drip coffee!

Where is this coffee sourced from?

Colombia

Huila - Castillo, Caturra & Colombia

Colombian coffee is among the most recognizable and most dynamic in the world, with multiple growing regions whose distinct yet consistently crowd-pleasing profiles reflect the various microclimates that exist in this large country. We source workhorse coffees from various of these growing regions, looking for a cup that contains a nice balance of sweetness, fruity effervescence, and a foundation of cocoa and/or toffee. Most Gran Galope offerings are a blend of coffees from between 10 and 30 smallholder farms, each with comparable cup characteristics and score. Coffees from Huila are cupped and purchased in Pitalito; coffees from Cauca are cupped and purchased in Popayán; and coffees from Nariño are cupped and purchased in both Pasto and La Unión.

This coffee was sourced through Cafe Imports, and it was purchased as green coffee at a price point of $4.53 USD/LBS.

Ethiopia

Natural Guji - Kedir Hassen at Sibu Trading - Oromia

Buliye station is a drying station that only produces naturally processed coffee. Owned and operated by Kedir Hassen at Sibu Trading that oversees a number of washing and drying stations in Southern Ethiopia, we taste the quality that Kedir and his teams at Sibu Trading put into the processing of the coffee delivered from the neighboring kebeles.

Buliye is one of those coffees that hits all ends of the spectrum for folks looking for natural processed coffees. It’s heavy on the palette, has some dense sweetness and lovely bright berry-like acidity that reminds us of grape and raspberry. This coffee is everything we look for in a natural processed coffee as well. It’s vibrant and dynamic with a very clean structure.

What size bag should I order?

Great question! Ultimately, it just comes down to your coffee drinking rate, but we loosely recommend the following:

12 oz = Each bag brews approximately 2-3 cups per day for a week.
2 lb = Each bag brews approximately 2-3 cups per day for about 2-3 weeks.
5 lb = Each bag brews approximately 4-5 cups per day for about 3-4 weeks.
